Duties for Guide Managers

  1. Hire guides.
    1. Answer inquires.
    2. Interview people.
    3. Recommend who to hire.

  2. Train guides.
    1. Have trainees sign confidential non-compete agreements.
    2. Provide written materials on the tour
    3. Have the trainees observe tours.
    4. Have the would-be guide demonstrate competence to the manager by giving the tour to the manager.

  3. Be a role model.
    1. Be able to do tours as needed and be able to train guides.
    2. Be able to assist guides to improve performances.

  4. Evaluate preparation.
    1. Observe they know the material.
    2. Observe they can present the material.

  5. Monitor the guides.
    1. See that the guides show up in a timely fashion.
    2. Observe and evaluate performance of guides.

  6. Greet customers.
    1. Collect tickets and/or check off that they show up and collect any cash.
    2. Sell merchandise in the future such as tee-shirts and books.
    3. Find where people come from.
    4. Observe gender and age range of customers.
    5. Do a head count of how many people showed up.
    6. Report on no shows.
